Completing the Medical Clinic thanks to a generous Donation to Congo Voice
Sabuli and the children are VERY excited about a large donation that has been made for the completion of the Gemena Medical Clinic.
Sabuli is ecstatic and grateful as this will bring the medical clinic up to necessary standards in order to pass stringent government inspections and soon be able to open, bringing desperately needed medical and health care to the children of Sabuli Children’s Center.
As you know, the medical clinic had been completed to a certain degree in order to be ready for the “Grand Opening Celebration” in July 2019. Yet several items still must be completed before it will pass strict government inspections and be ready to open and offer service to the children and community.
Some of things these new funds will support:
Deeper septic tanks
Shelving and storage for pharmaceutical
Construction of outdoor kitchen and laundry facilities
Water tank (due to lack of water pressure)
Generator (for medical procedures and other critical needs)
Solar panels (to provide lighting, mostly for evenings). Purchasing, installing, and transportation.
The workers have begun the final work of the clinic. We hope & pray that everything falls into place perfectly, that there are no surprises, and that inspections will go very smoothly.

WHY MEDICAL CARE?
1 in 5 children do not make their 5th birthday.
maternity too often means mortality.
Congo has one of the highest maternal death rates in the world with 846 deaths per 100,000 live births. (In the U.S., there are 18.5 per 100,000.)
FIghting maternal death rates means fighting the orphan crisis. We are committed to bringing change to this harsh cycle.
sweet Children from our center have died due to lack of medicine and available doctors.
One of Sabuli's biggest challenges these days is affording appropriate medical care for all 80+ children. In Gemena, quality medicine is difficult, if not impossible, to purchase at local clinics.
SO WHAT ARE WE DOING ABOUT IT?
CONGOVOICE has purchased new land and the foundation has been laid for our very own medical clinic as of 2018! This beacon of hope will serve the local community of Gemena and attempt to fight the ongoing orphan cycle due to the extremely high mortality rates in the mothers who give birth.
This exciting project will provide the much needed medical services to the orphaned children and local community. It will also become a major contributer to creating a self-sustaining children’s centre.
Here is an example of a hosptial about 3 hours away from Gemena.
